Auðunn Kvaran (1995) er myndlistarmaður og sýningarstjóri búsettur í Aþenu í Grikklandi.

Verk Auðunns skoða myndmál, merkingar og áhrif umhverfis á einstaklinga jafnt sem áhrif einstaklinga á umhverfi þess. Verk hans eru oftast unnin í ýmsa miðla sem draga þætti úr umhverfinu okkar inn í innsetningar sem búa til ný tengsl og nýjar frásagnir.

Hann útskrifaðist með BA gráðu úr myndlist í Listaháskóla Íslands árið 2020. Eins og er býr hann í Aþenu í Grikklandi þar sem hann opnaði gallerýið Living Room. Living Room hefur hýst 21 listamann í 13 einkasýningum og 3 hópsýningum. Living Room er hluti af Collective of Collectives, sem er samstarfsverkefni ýmissa listamannarekinna rýma í Aþenu með það að markmiði að sameina myndlistarsenu Aþenu og gera hana aðgengilegri.

Hildur was born in 1938. She graduated as a weaver in 1968 from the Icelandic College of Arts and Crafts (forerunner of the Iceland University of the Arts), then pursued further study at the University of Edinburgh. In 1980 she qualified as a teacher of weaving from the Icelandic College of Arts and Crafts, where she taught 1969­-1981. She was principal of the college 1975-­1978 during a time of turmoil in its history. Hildur has practised her art for many years, and her work has been shown at solo and group exhibitions in Iceland and abroad. She has also developed and presented many exhibitions of the work of other artists. Works by Hildur are in the collections of the National Gallery of Iceland, the Living Art Museum, the LÁ Art Museum and other public bodies. She was an active member of the SÚM artists‘ group in the 1960s and 70s, and in the women‘s liberation movement, and these influences are manifested in her art. Hildur is also well­ known for her horticulture and her writings. She translated Walden, or Life in the Woods into Icelandic with Elísabet Gunnarsdóttir, and has shown a concern for the environment, as is reflected in her work.

Hildur participated in Oceanus Hafsjó in Eyrarbakki in 2022, with the work Quo Vado? Hvert fer ég?

2023 Red Thread - a retrospective of the art of Hildur Hákonardóttir at Kjarvalsstaðir, Reykjavík Art Museum.

Hildur has undertaken various elective offices, and she was director of the Árnessýsla Heritage and Art Museum 1986-­1993, and of the LÁ Art Museum 1997­-2000. After residing for many years by the Ölfusá river in south Ice­ land, Hildur now lives in Reykjavík.

(f. 1984, Kanada) er sýningarstjóri. Í verkefnum sínum hefur Becky lagt mikla áherslu á samvinnu og tengslamyndun sem hún byggir á heilindum, næmni, gagnrýnum samskiptum og hreinskilni. Sem sýningarstjóri hefur Becky bæði átt frumkvæði að, stýrt og unnið að verkefnum, sýningum og útgáfum í söfnum, galleríum og listamannastýrðum verkefnum á Íslandi. Þar á meðal í Listasafni Reykjavíkur, Nýlistasafninu, Hafnarborg, Gerðarsafni, Kling & Bang, ASÍ og Skaftfelli. 

Becky er handhafi rannsóknarstöðu um hlut kvenna í íslenskri listasögu 2024-25 hjá Listasafni Reykjavíkur. Áður var hún tímabundinn verkefnastjóri hjá safninu og hefur verið reglulegur leiðbeinandi í meistaranámi við Listaháskóla Íslands. Hún er einnig hluti af ritstjórn tímaritsins Myndlist á Íslandi. Frá 2014–2018 var Becky safneignarfulltrúi Nýlistasafnsins sem hefur haft mótandi áhrif á nálgun hennar í þeim ólíku verkefnum sem hún hefur tekið að sér með listamönnum, söfnum og samfélögum. 

Her current Núverandi rannsókn hennar fjallar um afgerandi hlutverk kvenna í mótun íslenskrar listasenu á þessum umbreytingatímum níunda áratugarins og leitast eftir að afhjúpa flókið tengslanet, sterkan vef og djarft frumkvæði kvenna sem einkenndi þennan tíma listrænnar sköpunar, nýsköpunar og könnunar. Niðurstaða rannsókna hennar mun birtast í formi bókar og sýningar á Kjarvalsstöðum í Febrúar 2025

Becky Forsythe

(b. 1984, Canada) is a curator whose practice often centres relationship building and collaboration as methods for curating with integrity, sensitivity, critical exchange and openness. As a curator, Becky has initiated, led and collaborated on projects, exhibitions and publications in museums, galleries and artist-led initiatives in Iceland including, Reykjavík Art Museum, The Living Art Museum, Hafnarborg, Gerðarsafn, Kling & Bang, ASÍ and Skaftfell. 

Becky is the recipient of the research position on the role of women in Icelandic art 2024-2025 at Reykjavík Art Museum, where she was previously a Project Manager of special projects. She is on the editorial board of the magazine Art in Iceland and has been a regular MA Advisor at Iceland University of the Arts. Between 2014-2018 Becky was Collection Manager at The Living Art Museum, a role that continues to inform her approach to working with artists, collections and communities. 

Her current research explores the pivotal role of women artists in shaping the Icelandic art scene leading up to and during the transformative decade of the 1980s and is dedicated to revealing the intricate networks, resilient connections, and bold self-initiatives that characterised this era of artistic creation, innovation and exploration. This project will be realized in a book and exhibition in Kjarvalsstaðir in February 2025.

Born in Selfoss 1965.

She graduated from Ljósmyndaskólinn in Reykjavik in 2014 and has also attended courses by higly regarded Photographers such as David Lewis, Elizabeth Opalenic,  Elina Brotherus and Jenia Fridlyand.

Christine uses the photograph as an artform to express her inclinations about life, beauty, moment in time and saga. She pays attention to everything that surrounds us as her mind drifts to those who are no longer with us, and the light they left behind. She loves to play with movement and light or the stillness and it gives her photographs a certain mystique aura. One can sense the threads of her life’s story in her photographs which blend together with the unique light, beauty, peace and healing which she finds in Icelandic nature.

Visual artist born in Italy, lives and works in Iceland since 2013.

He graduated in Mixed Media at the Fine Art Academy in Venice (Italy, 2009); he has been using different techniques and media, such as painting, video, performance-art and installation.

He also attended VETRORICERCA - GLAS & MODERN, a unique 2 years course about glass tecniques in Bolzano (Italy, 2003-2005), having very famous glass artists from all over the world as teachers.

Glass and its transparency and capacity of revealing the inner essence of reality, has been the focus of his artistic research in the early years.

During this glass master he also got attracted by design, especially by glass jewelry design (having had the possibility to create glass beads using lampworking technique).

In the years 2008-2009 he curated several theatre and poetry reading events, which he imagined and brought to life with his friend Ilaria Tomasi (poetess from Padova, Italy), he created the stage designs and parallel solo exhibitions inspired by those shows.

In the years 2010-2012 he has been working as a teacher for kids in art and creativity workshops, held at schools, libraries, etc., and the main focus of these classes was to help the kids develop their creativity, mostly by using recycled materials.

After moving to Iceland in 2013, he has developed a more personal and almost autobiographical approach to art, often with the use of contrasting media and materials.

He is also very fond of philosophy and mythology, and he conveys these concepts with the use of symbolism and a sort of story-telling though his art.

Genevieve Bonieux was born and grew up in Mauritius, and is now living and working both in Mauritius and France, where her studio in downtown Paris is the showplace of not only her work, but also of shows with other artists, in events promoting intergenerational cooperation and women/feminist actions.

She likes to blur the frontier between the fine arts and decorative pieces, by crafting translucent folding screens which are unique works of art as well as architectural elements. She likes to use state-of-the-art materials such as fibreglass, plexiglas, resin, pigments and metals, the usual constituents of industrial functional objects, vehicles and buildings. Among her favoured materials are commercial candies, which produce a stained glass effect when processed with resin.The resulting works also navigate between painting and sculpture.

Butoh dancer, Performance Artist, Multi Genre Art Collaboration Creator and Organizer

I’m a Butoh dancer and dance performance artist. I’m from South Korea and have been living in India since 2010 with art, self-exploration and a simple life. I have been exploring the subbody resonance butoh process for over 10 years and facilitating workshops on it in Europe and Asia. As a dance performance artist, I especially explore the space between life and death, the self and the world, and have been sharing unique aesthetic life movements with audiences around the world. Stepping into the aesthetics of Darkness, unknown space and abyss of existence, encountering new light, color, language and dance. I love to collaborate with multi genre artists in many countries and I have been working as an initiator of an online multi genre collaboration network [Dimensions of Sense-Ability] which was supported by Arts Council Korea 2021. I feel profoundly happy when I meet and resonate with someone through Butoh. For me, butoh is a life journey. When someone asked me what is butoh for me, my life answered ; “I got on the road for a long journey with no destination to find ways to take off the heavy heavy clothes of the identity as ‘I’. As soon as I chose that unknown path, I started dancing. A dance I've never seen before. Images believed to be me shook while dancing and became particles, and infinite beings in the empty space borrowed this body. They began to vibrate into their lives and wave strongly with indescribable body language. It was a dance that every cell in my body longed for. It was a dance that led to a whole and pure life itself beyond thoughts, judgements, and concepts as a human being. I still change into clothes of indescribable shape and color. That's my own dance, Butoh. On the road following the dance of original life. Becoming pure life.”

Hekla makes interactive constellations, large scale paper installations, a group or cluster of related things, creating a dialogue of sound, a frozen puddle in the middle of the summer, pop-up  igloos, fireworks and wishing wells. Moments of wonder, magic, and the unexpected are significant in her works. Time is a fundamental feature which Hekla communicates in diverse and often unexpected ways, not only through traditional time-related media, e.g. videos, sound and performances, but also with various types of content as well as the exhibition format as such. Time appears as a rhythm or movement, a kind of progression in the form of itself rather than a narrative medium. Constantly inspired by the creativity of her peers, Hekla has worked to create platforms for other artists, both in her own projects where artists compose or make work that becomes a part of her installation or when she takes on the role of a curator for several exhibitions.

Hekla held the position off a Professor of Fine Art at the Iceland University of the Arts for a decade alongside maintaining her art practice from a studio in Reykjavík. Hekla is a member and one of the founders of Kling & Bang gallery in Reykjavík.  Her works have been widely exhibited, at institutions such as; the National Gallery of Iceland, The Reykjavik Art Museum, The Akureyri Art Museum, Hafnarborg Museum, Gerðasafn Museum, The Nordic House in Reykjavík, The Nordic House of the Faroe Islands, The Centre of Contemporary Art of Gibraltar, The Malmo Konsthall, TRUCK Contemporary Art in Calgary in Canada, the Tate Modern in London, OMR Mexico city, Frac Normandie, Frac Réunion and Villa Croce Museum of Contemporary Art of Genoa. 

Hera Fjord er með BA í leiklist og leikstjórn og er að ljúka MA námi í Ritlist við HÍ með áherslu á ritun leikrita og kvikmyndahandrita. Hún gaf út sína fyrstu smásögu vorið 2024 í bókinni „Gestabók“ og er með ljóðabók í vinnslu. Hún hefur starfað á Íslandi og í London sem leikkona, leikstjóri og leiklistarkennari, skipulagt og tekið þátt í listahátíðum sem sviðslistakona og ljóðskáld. Hún hefur unnið margvísleg vídjóverk á síðustu árum og var heimildarmynd hennar „Í öruggum höndum“ valin til sýningar á Skjaldborg árið 2022. Einleikur hennar „Fjallkonan“ hefur verið sýndur víða á Íslandi, verkið var skrifað og leikið í af henni sjálfri. Hera hefur ástríðu fyrir því að upphefja fáheyrðar raddir samfélagsins og er stolt af starfi sínu í fangelsum en hún stofnaði félagasamtökin Múrar brotnir sem halda utan um listasmiðjur fyrir fanga. Þrátt fyrir að leikhúsið hafi lengst af átt hug hennar og hjarta þá hefur ritlistarnámið í HÍ opnað á nýjar leiðslur og því alls ekki víst hvert penninn fer með hana í framtíðinni.

Yuliana Palacios was born in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Chiapas. She holds a bachelor degree as a contemporary dancer from the Universidad Veracruzana in Xalapa, Veracruz. During her studies, she participated in a student exchange program at the Universidad de las Artes ISA in Havana, Cuba. She completed her studies in 2015, graduating with honours.

Since 2016, Yuliana has been living in Iceland, where she has developed as a creator and multidisciplinary artist. She is currently pursuing a master's degree in Performing Arts at the Iceland University of the Arts, Listaháskóli Íslands(LHÍ).

Since establishing herself in Iceland, Yuliana has developed various independent arts projects with the support of diverse cultural grants coming both from the public and private sectors.

In 2020, Yuliana completed a Diploma in Danza y Mediación Tecnológica at The National University of Mexico, UNAM. Later in the same year with the aim of creating a link between Mexico and Iceland, Yuliana founded Boreal Screendance Festival, which is held annually at the Art Museum in Akureyri as well as other showrooms and galleries. Boreal Screendance Festival marks its fifth edition this year. The festival received the prestigious Eyrarrósin Encouragement Award in 2021 award for an outstanding young creative project.

During 2022-23, Yuliana joined the Bpart project in collaboration with performing artists from Mexico, the Czech Republic, and Iceland.

Recently, Yuliana Palacios received funding in the latest round of grants from the Icelandic Performing Arts Fund for the creation of the multidisciplinary project “Hér á ég heima" (Here is my home), which premiered in April this year. Yuliana kept working on the production of her interdisciplinary work

"Hér á ég heima", extending it to a videodance piece that was premiered at Gerðarsafn in Kópavogur as part of the biennial Reykjavík Arts Festival in June 2024.

For Yuliana it is important to continue creating networks and connections between artists from dierent disciplines and backgrounds. The themes she is interested in and that have been fundamental in her work over the past years are: Identity, roots, belonging, borders, and resilience.

Margrét has worked as an  artist since 2002 and participated in various solo and group exhibitions. She mainly works with installations based on her drawings, paintings and textwork intertwined with performances and various media

Margrét has a BA in Fine art from Iceland University of the arts and studied in the Fine art department in the Academy of Fine arts in Helsinki (Kuvataideakatemia). She has a masters degree from Iceland University of the arts. Her MA thesis was based on results of qualitative research and examines the potential for people with intellectual disabilities to exploit the opportunities in the field of Arts.

In her latest work,  Allt bara er – Atlas / Everything just is – Atlas, that is currently exhibited in Reykjavík Art Museum, Hafnarhús Margrét explores the complex web of human existence. The search for acceptance of what IS entails both unbearable pain, and soothing, ethereal beauty. An attempt is made to harness the uncertainty that characterizes the human condition, neutral activity becomes a visualized behavioral pattern, and the drone of thought becomes a flowing pattern of thought. The work is an installation, created with mixed media. Its central point is a large mandala, made from images of people that Margrét finds on Google Earth by applying certain rules she has set herself. Her system leads her in a search of that which IS, in everyday moments around the world, and of that which is not, according to the browser, where countries are banned, or their existence not acknowledged. The now resides in a gap between past and present, between words and images, which simultaneously has disappeared and is eternal.

Margrét founded Listvinnzlan, Art Center in 2022, www.listvinnslan.is and teaches in the Iceland University of the Arts and Fjölmennt, adult education center. 
She has held numerous lectures on art and inclusion in Iceland and abroad and written articles and text on that subject. She has curated many exhibitions and works mainly with marginalized artists.  She is on the board of Reykjavík Arts Festival and Art Without Borders.
Margrét has had awards and recognitions for her work on inclusion in art and culture. Among others an honorary award from the National Organisation of people with intellectual disabilities. Múrbrjótur (The wall breaker), from The national association Þroskahjálp and 

Incentive Award of the Association of Disabled Persons of Iceland in the individual category for connecting the artistic creation of disabled and non-disabled people with the art festival Art without Borders and The Human Rights Award of the City of Reykjavík with Art Without Borders

Teitur Björgvinsson is a musician and carpenter who, like his brothers Egill and Júlíus, grew up in and around the many instruments of their father Björgvin’s organ workshop. The experience of being inside a large and powerful instrument like the church organ and witnessing its craft continues to be a source of appreciation, creativity and music making for him. Working between roles, Teitur is interested in developing crossovers between handwork, composition and songwriting by recording sounds in various fields—such as forest, church, sculpture, lake or ocean—to build upon their unexpected meeting points.

One of his recent projects includes the album Hringfari (2020), written and recorded with fellow musician, composer and independent audio producer James Bunton (CA), in Iceland and Canada between 2016 to 2019. Together they circumnavigated the island to record in local churches where organs built by Teitur’s father exist, and aimed to shed new light on the possibilities of the instrument. They further recorded in a cabin in Ontario, at home and in various temporary and professional studios between Reykjavík and Toronto. The result is a reflection of the songwriting process, conversations between friends and locations, the sounds of individual pipe organs and their churches, and contributions made by other musicians and family members.
